A theatrical tour in Jaffa

Region: Tel Aviv and Center, By Appointment: Yes
Source: Ministry of Tourism
Region: Tel-Aviv area

An enchanting tour through the picturesque alleys of Old Jaffa, where we will hear wonderful songs and stories about the city whose secrets rest in its stone walls. During the trip to Jaffa, we will hear about its glorious past, while looking at its magnificent view of the sea. We will visit a Moroccan restaurant, and the Ariana Club, where we will listen to the sounds of Aris San's bouzouki. We will tell stories about people whose fate was connected to Jaffa: the prophet Jonah who escaped from it and Pharaoh who placed a victory gate therein.

At the port, we will tell the story of Andromeda, who was bound to its rocks, Napoleon Bonaparte who conquered it, and more. We'll hear about the policeman Azulay, Kazablan, the hamam, and how is it all connected to art?
We'll see a flying tree, go up to the wishing bridge and look for our luck in the Zodiac Fountain, visit the Yemenite Jewelry Museum and the Libyan Synagogue.

As part of the trip to Jaffa, we will learn about the history of the Old City: Why did the Mughrabi decide to settle in Jaffa and not in one of the holy cities? How did Jaffa's sailors know how to navigate the dangerous rocks in the port? How did they determine the width of the alleys? What irritated Yehuda Margoza? Who is the woman on whom the poem "Atur Mitzchech" was written? And more...
At the end of the tour in Jaffa, we will go to the flea market, which has undergone changes in recent years and attracts many designers, artists, bohemians, and businessmen.

We can also see some theater: Joseph Moyal and his contribution to the square, Abu Nabut, the cruel governor of Jaffa who will tell us why it is important to set an alarm clock, the king who became the homeless and Napoleon in love and the gift he chose to give to his beloved Josephine.

Landmarks: the Clock Square, the Palace House, the Qishla, Sabeel Suleiman, the Jerusalem Gate, Jaffa Museum, St. Peter Church, the Libyan Synagogue, the Fountain of the Zodiac, the Gate of Faith, the Egyptian Gate, the Hanging Tree, and more.
