The terminal serves as a crossing point for goods between Israel and the Palestinian Authority and Jordan.

According to the 1994 Oslo Accords with the Palestinian Authority and the peace treaty with Jordan, the Israel Airports Authority operates the Allenby Bridge terminal.

Palestinians traveling abroad use this terminal to move from the Palestinian Authority to Jordan, and from there they can fly abroad via Amman Airport.

The West Bank side of the bridge is considered a border point by Israel.

The Jordanian authorities recognize the bridge as an international border point, but unlike other border crossings with Israel, the Jordanians do not grant entry visas to foreign passport holders here.

Israelis are allowed to cross the border at the Allenby Terminal, provided they have a valid exit visa issued by the Jordanian Embassy, which states that it is valid for the Allenby Terminal.

Tourists wishing to travel to Jordan must obtain a visa in advance to Jordan.

Those who leave Jordan via the Allenby Bridge can return by presenting the exit visa.
