Mishkenot Sha'ananim Tour And The Israel Camp

Region: Jerusalem Area, By Appointment: Yes
Source: Siyur Sipur
Region: Jerusalem area

A tour which combines the stories of the people that initiated things outside of the walls of the Old City.

The tour takes participants to the first train station in the Middle East, which was the initiative of Yosef Navon, the grandfather of the President of the State.

Where you hear about visitors such as Herzl and Eliezer Ben Yehuda and the impression left on them by riding the train.

Continue to the Lions Fountain and the Fountain of Eden near Ben Hinnom Valley, walking along the boardwalk and seeking the sanctity of Jerusalem in a breathtaking view of the walls of the city.

At the Montefiore windmill, we will hear stories of the tank on fire, the bombardment of the windmill, and his love for his spouse Yehudit, and for the City of Jerusalem. The residents of Jerusalem in exchange commemorated his name in the Yemin Moshe neighborhood, for his great generosity.

The questions: Why the windows were built in pairs? Why did the residents of the neighborhood have to read the Tefilat HaDerech when they came out of toilets?  Why was the curse on the flour mill revoked? We will learn about the royal tomb attributed to King Herod.

We will try to decipher who burned the Carriage of Montefiore, and more.

We then continue to the King David Hotel and the YMCA each with its own colorful history.

At the end of the tour, we come to Camp Israel, the Mughrabi neighborhood, and more.
