Tour of the American Colony - Discover America

Region: Tel Aviv and Center, By Appointment: Yes
Source: Siyur Sipur
Region: Tel-Aviv area

A tour of the American Colony is a visit to one of the most beautiful and magical places of Tel Aviv.

The meeting point looks like a small, pastoral American village with wooden huts and balconies to the street.

On the tour, we hear the story of a Christian community whose members came from Maine in the United States more than 150 years ago, and whose dream was to find redemption, but soon they became beggars.

There is still one remaining member of the community, Rola Floyd, who was the first coachman in Israel.

The place was taken by the Templar community. During the tour we will hear about, the Russian baron and its luxurious hotel, "Du Park", where Emporer Wilhelm II was hosted by Yitzhak Kumar, the protagonist of the book "Tmol Shilshom", who found his first work in the garden.

What is the relation between the song, "Mishmar HaYarden" that connected Naftali Herz Imber to the colony, Yitzhak Ben Zvi, where in his room in the colony it was decided to establish the "Bar Giora" organization, and more.

Later on, we will visit a unique museum wherein we will look at slides from a magical flashlight, we see the hut where "Keren" Chef Haim Cohen's restaurant served, we will follow the preservation plans at the Jerusalem Hotel and the British Intelligence House and visit the synagogue founded by Adam Baruch.

From here we descend to the "Noga Complex" which in recent years has become a lively art complex. We will see a neighborhood coffee factory and more.
